WHEREAS despite repeated election commitments since 2018, not a single kilometre of the remaining 68 km of HWY 69 has been tendered and no dedicated funding has been allocated; and, / ALORS QUE malgré des promesses électorales répétées depuis 2018, aucun kilomètre des 68 km restants de l’autoroute 69 n’a été mis en appel d’offres et aucun financement dédié n’a été accordé; et,
WHEREAS families and communities in Northern Ontario continue to suffer devastating and preventable injuries and loss of life on this dangerous stretch of HWY 69; and, / ALORS QUE les familles et les communautés du Nord de l’Ontario continuent de subir des blessures graves et des pertes de vie évitables sur ce tronçon dangereux de la autoroute 69; et,
WHEREAS the continued delay has been accompanied by shifting explanations, and, / ALORS QUE les retards continus sont accompagnés d’explications changeantes ; et,
WHEREAS no dedicated funding has been allocated in the last 8 provincial budgets to advance this critical project. / ALORS QUE aucun financement dédié n’a été prévu dans les 8 derniers budgets provinciaux récents pour faire avancer ce projet essentiel.
WE, the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: negotiate seriously with land owners to immediately fund, tender, and begin construction of the remaining 68 km of HWY 69 and establish a clear, public timetable for completion. / NOUS soussignés pétitionnons l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario : de négocier sérieusement avec les propriétaires des terres; financer immédiatement, aller en appel d’offres et commencer la construction des 68 km restants de l’autoroute 69, et établir un calendrier clair et public pour terminer le projet.
