WHEREAS glyphosate-based herbicides have been classified as “probably carcinogenic to humans” by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC); and, / ALORS QUE les herbicides à base de glyphosate, ont été classés comme « probablement cancérogènes pour l’homme » par le Centre international de recherche sur le cancer (CIRC); et
WHEREAS scientific studies have linked glyphosate exposure to a range of health concerns including cancer, endocrine disruption, and reproductive toxicity; and, / ALORS QUE des études scientifiques ont établi un lien entre l’exposition au glyphosate et divers problèmes de santé, notamment le cancer, les perturbations endocriniennes et la toxicité reproductive, et ,
WHEREAS glyphosate persists in the environment, contaminating soil and waterways, and negatively impacts biodiversity, including pollinators, aquatic life, and soil organisms; and, / ALORS QUE le glyphosate persiste dans l’environnement, contamine les sols et l’eau, et nuit à la biodiversité, notamment aux pollinisateurs et à la faune aquatique; et
WHEREAS safer, non-toxic, and ecologically sustainable alternatives are available and should be prioritized to protect both public health and the environment;/ ALORS QUE des solutions de rechange sûres, non toxiques et écologiquement durables sont disponibles et devraient être priorisées pour protéger la santé publique et l’environnement ;
WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: To immediately ban the non-essential use of glyphosate-based herbicides on all public lands in Ontario.
